Jeremy has been a big fan of lounge, exotica, and space-age pop music and the tiki bar/cocktail culture for nearly ten years. With the new resurgence of interest in Tiki Bars and the retro Tiki culture, Fuksa felt that it was time for the grand Tiki Bar to receive it's own cartoon.
Jeremy started the idea for Tiki Bar: The Animated Series one sleepless night in 2002. That night a sketch of a retro, Tiki-themed nightclub in his sketchbook sparked an endless flow of character descriptions and episode ideas. By the time Jeremy went back to bed all of the characters had been born and plot summaries for ten episodes of the Tiki Bar cartoon had been written.
The pilot script, "Leaky Tap", was written over the course of the next year, with audio recording sessions started in 2004. The characters underwent a number of aesthetic revisions, and were finally settled upon in the late winter or early spring of 2005.
The pilot is currently still under development, with a desired release date of spring 2006.
